John Bambridge, of Toronto, Canada, who met a terrible death in the wreck was the father of Mrs. Wise, wife of the Rev. C. M. Wise, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Belle Plaine. Mr. Bambridge had been on a brief visit with to daughter and came down to Cedar Rapids Sunday night to take the Rock Island for Minneapolis, from which point he intended to go on to the northwest, where he has large interests. Mr. West came to Cedar Rapids last evening to catch the midnight through train to Marshalltown, and expects to leave today for Canada with the body of his father-in-law. Mr. Bambridge was a man of considerable wealth.

John Bambridge was the owner of Bambridge's Carriage and Harness Works, on Avenue A in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the time of his death. It was his custom to go to his home in Watford, Ontario in the fall and return to Saskatoon in the spring. It was on this return journey that he died in a terrible train wreck near Green Mountain, Iowa.
