Bicket is the common spelling locally but it also spelled Becket, Beckett, and Bickett as seen in family links to the children and her death certificate.

"Mrs. Hugh Bicket, whose death was briefly noted last week, was one of the notable pioneers of north Tama. She was over eighty years of age and had lived in this township since the sixties. She was the mother of thirteen children. Nine of these are living, all full grown, namely: Hugh, in Alaska. Mary Dodd, Des Moines; Thomas, Dinsdale: Jessie Carlile, Colorado; James, Spokane, Washington, Frank, Traer, John, Union county, Iowa; Henry, Winifred, South Dakota. Mother Bicket was born in Canada October 16, 1829. March 21, 1848, she married Hugh Bicket, who lived to a ripe age, passing away September 22, 1904. Since then, the widow has made her home with her children, all of whom reflect her great, worth. She was one of the most unselfish, tender and lovable mothers we ever met. Her long life was a continuous devotion to her husband, children and friends. Death took place at Des Moines, where the deceased had been spending the winter with her daughter, Mrs. West Dodd. The body was brought to Traer and the funeral was held on Saturday afternoon. Rev. J. N. Currens conducted services at the John Bicket residence and at Buckingham cemetery, where the body rests beside that of the husband gone before."
