Shayne was killed in action on October 6, 2005, alongside 3 of his fellow Marine Corps brothers by an IED near Karmah, Iraq, and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
He loved his sports and often enjoyed watching games with family. Shayne loved spending time with family and friends. Shayne was proud of his Marine title and proud of the uniform he wore. He received multiple service awards including the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
