ASHEVILLE CITIZEN TIMES:

Roger Glance, 89, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his residence after a year long battle with lung cancer. Mr. Glance was a native of Buncombe County and was a son to late Conley and Exie Rogers Glance. He was also preceded in death by the "absolute love of his life", his wife of over 50 years, Helen Margaret Glance who died in September, 2012. Roger was a successful small business owner of the Asheville area. He graduated from Candler High School and attended Lees-McRae College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He loved to cook southern style, and no one made a better biscuits and gravy than he did. He loved to fish at Fontana Lake, was an avid Duke Basketball fan, researched his genealogy, and loved his family with all his heart. Mr. Glance is survived by four children; a son, Ronald Fox, of Holbrook, AZ; a daughter, Pamela Shaw of Seattle,WA.; a daughter, Phyllis Callahan of San Diego, CA and a son, Greg Glance, M.D. of Candler; nine granchildren: Terri Serena, Ronald Fox, Jr., Kate Shaw, Calley Callahan, Randi Callahan, Sara Glance, M.D. and Tyler Glance and ten great grandchildren. No services are scheduled at this time. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family .
