Arthur Paddock, 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.

Art and his wife Enid of 63 years lived in Centerport, New York before retiring to New Bern in 1987. Art had careers in sales with the Borden Company (Ice Cream) and worked as a Medical Underwriter with the Equitable Life Assurance Company. He was an ordained Elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Bern. He proudly served his country, with the US Army, in WWII and saw action in both the European and Pacific theatres.

He was an avid athlete and coach. He coached and managed his son's Little League Baseball teams and later organized the Senior Babe Ruth program for Greenlawn, New York. After moving to New Bern he continued to enjoy golf and was a member of the River Bend Country Club. He enjoyed wood working and was a model railroad enthusiast for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife Enid, brother William of Hardyston, NJ; daughter Gail Gruebel and her husband Kenneth of New Port Richey, FL; and son Donald and his wife Elizabeth of Birmingham, AL. He has six grandchildren, Stephen Pearson, of San Diego, CA; John Pearson, of Dayton, OH; William Paddock of Nashville, TN; Charles Paddock and his wife Haley of Penobscot, ME; and Drew Paddock and Richard Paddock of Tuscaloosa, AL. He has three great-grand daughters, Rylee Ann Paddock and twins Cameron Alise and Cailin Alisebeth Paddock of Penobscot, ME.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday May 10th, at 11AM, at the First Presbyterian Church of New Bern, with Pastor William Hawkins, Pastor Ken Gruebel, Jr. and certified Lay Pastor Ken Gruebel, Sr. officiating. Donations may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of New Bern 400 New St. New Bern, NC 28563 or to the charity of your choice.
