Verna R. Hicks, resident of Fairland, OK., passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Freeman Health System, Joplin, MO. She was 74 years old. She had previously worked at Motorola Institute as a cook. She was a member of the NW Assembly of God Church, Miami, OK. She was born March 15, 1939 in Johns West, Virginia to James and Nellie (Belcher) Bennett. She married William Boren Jr., Russell Davis, and H.E. Price. They all have preceded her in death. She then married Charles Hicks.
Verna is preceded in death by her parents, three spouses, three brothers; Clarence Bennett, Gaines Bennett, and Lemuel Bennett. She is survived by her spouse Charles Hicks, of the home, four sons; Russell Boren and spouse Ruth, of Pryor, OK., Allyn Boren and spouse Lucinda, of Vinita, OK., Roger Boren and spouse Lisa, of Vinita, OK., Joe Davis and spouse Sherry, of Phoenix, AZ., one daughter; Penny Price and spouse Patrick, of Miami, OK., one brother; James Bennett, of Cobb Town, GA., one sister; Beulah Baker, seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct., 22, 2013 at the Adcock Funeral Home Chapel, Fairland, OK. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct., 23, 2013 at the NW Assembly of God Church, Miami, OK., with Rev. Eugene Davis officiating. Serving as pallbearer's will be Steven Price, Jason Macom, Jordan Boren, Isreal Boren, Levi Boren, and Jonathan Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearer's will be Chase Stone and Michael Anderson.
