HENRY HARMS, JR DIES DEC 20 AT HIS HOME
Henry H. Harms, Jr., age 77, died at his home near Scotch Grove early Tuesday morning, Dec. 20, 1977 after a brief illness.
Henry H. Harms, Jr. was born in Wayne township, near Monticello, March 5, 1900, the son of Heinrich E. and Elise W. Zimmerman Harms.
He received his early education near the place of his birth and later chose farming as his life's vocation.
Henry Harms and Minnie W. Bohlken were married at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, Nov. 29, 1922.
After their marriage the couple farmed in Scotch Grove township, Jones county, until 1969, when they moved to their present home near Scotch Grove for retirement.
Baptized and confirmed in Wayne Zion Lutheran church, he had been a member of Wayne Zion throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie, a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Dierks, Cedar Rapids; a son, Milton H. Harms, Scotch Grove; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward Harms, Amber; and George J. Harms, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church and interment in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated at the services.
Casketbearers were Ralph Harms, Raymond Harms, Melvin Herren, Milton Tobiason George H. Bohlken and Elmer Hanken
