Willisman or Willis was born between 1843-1844. He served in the Civil war. Private Co. A 2nd Regiment Georgia Infantry Volunteers, under the command of Daniel G. Chandler. He enlisted April 20, 1861 in Homer, Georgia. He appeared in these registers:
Company Muster Roll for April 20 to June 30, 1861, present
Company Muster Roll for July & August 1861, on guard duty
Company Muster Roll for September & October 1861, present
CSA General hospital, Charlotte, Virginia with a complaint of Vul Selopeticum on September 6, 1862, (at Lynchburg).
CSA General hospital, Danville, Virginia date of Furlough October 23, 1862 (60 days).
Company Muster Roll for June 30 to December 31, 1864 absent without leave.
Company Muster Roll for July & August 1864 absent on Surgeons certificate.
Paroled in compliance with the terms of a Military convention made April 26, 1865, at Bennett's house, near Durham's station, North Carolina.
Willis died shortly after his return home from the war on May 25, 1865.
It is unknown where he is buried but perhaps in Simmons-Meeler Cemetery in an unmarked grave. This Cemetery is located on Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area in Stephens County.
