Maxine was originally from the Detroit, Michigan area, where she graduated high school and subsequently worked as a bookkeeper for the Chrysler Corporation. Following World War II , she married her high-school sweetheart Louis J. Cahours, Jr. As part of his job with General Motors, they subsequently lived in Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia before retiring to North Carolina in the late 1980Œs. Her beloved Louis preceded her in death by some 20 years. Maxine was a member of, and as long as her health permitted, was active in the Joy Assembly of God church of Southport, teaching a Sunday School class there. She was also active in the social life of the local community and made it a point of ministering to others.
She is survived by one brother, one daughter, three sons and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are to be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, the 19th of October at the Northwood cemetery, N. Fodale Ave, in Southport.
