RUTH TOMPKINS
Ruth Tompkins, 69, of Ashland, NY, died on May 2, 2010, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on Sept. 10, 1940, the daughter of Clarence and Ellen Tompkins in Grand Gorge, NY.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Roe, her brother Walter Raeder and her niece Heather Raeder. She is survived by her husband, Paul (Junior) Tompkins, her daughters, Linda Cunningham (Allen,) Joan Albert (John) and Jane Lane (Lane.) She is also survived by her siblings Hazel Ford, Clarence, Dorothy, Edward and George Raeder, as well as her grandchildren Amy and Ashley Cunningham, Thomas and Janelle Albert, and Jessica, Eric, Daniel and David Lane. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as the many other children that she babysat for over the years. She was an original member of the Ashland Rescue Squad, a member of the Ashland Community Church and the Ashland Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Decker Funeral Home, Windham, NY. A funeral service will be conducted at the Ashland Community Church on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ashland Community Church or the Ashland Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
