Her sons and daughters were listed as Charles, age 13, b. OH; Viola, 11 OH; Peter, 9 OH; James, 9 OH; William, 7 OH, & Bertha, 5 OH.

This family was listed in Emporia, Lyon, Kansas in 1900. Griffith J. Baxter was listed as age 59 and Mary A., age 51. Their sons and daughters were James E., 29; Peter D., 29; Oscar W., 27; Jesse J., a son, 18; Sadie J., 18; Clarence C., 16; and Harley B., 13.

Mary A. Baxter was listed as age 70 in 1920 with her husband and three sons. By 1925, she was listed without her husband at Hartford, Lyon, Kansas. She was living with her twin sons James E. & Peter D., both 54.

Mary was the mother of at least eleven sons and daughters. Her daughter, Bertha Baxter Newkirk, died in Los Angeles, California in 1945. The California Death Index lists the maiden name of Bertha's mother as Metzler. Mary was listed as age 81 on the 1930 census and her death date is recorded in family information.
