Benjamin is the son of Stephen and Catharine (Bears) Bishop and was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church at East Cleveland, Ohio. He left Ohio, coming to Wisconsin in 1853 with his great uncle John C. Bishop, and later to Lomira township in 1855 where he purchased 80 acres.


He married (1) Catherine E Mayer in Milwaukee on 18 May 1863. They resided in Lomira twp. Their children include Elizabeth, Catherine, Stephen, Adeline, Benjamin B., Caroline, Delia, Joseph, Laura and Jacob.


Following Catherine's death in 1887, Benjamin married (2) Anna Greineisen on 29 June 1890. Their children include Mary Anne, Jennie, Frank, Rosalia, Clarence, Lucy, Anna, and Margaret.

BEAVER DAM==After a short illness, Benjamin Bishop, 86, died at his home here. He came to Dodge County in 1855, and to Beaver Dam eight years ago. He was a member of the Wisconsin assembly in 1882. He was buried at Brownsville, Wis.
