Mary (née Lee) Thorson, 93
Mary was born on January 19, 1885, in Fairfax, Minn., the daughter of John and Seine Lee. As a child Mary moved with her parents to Strum, Wisc., where she received her schooling. She later moved to Eau Claire, Wisc., where she was married to Gus Thorson on September 30, 1905. They later moved to Whitefish where Gus worked for the Great Northern Railroad. When Mary was 65 she became a practical nurse for the John B. Simons Hospital (Whitefish Memorial Hospital), where she continued to work for twenty years. Mary was selected Whitefish's First Lady by the Beta Sigma Phi in 1966. She was preceded by her husband, Gus, in 1957. She was survived by one daughter; two foster daughters, one sister; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mary passed away Monday morning, May 1, 1978, at the North Valley Hospital, Whitefish, Montana.
