Ruth Helen Bragg Myers, 94 years, 3 months and 7 days of age, formerly of Fountain City, Indiana, peacefully departed this life from complications associated with Alzheimer's, shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7th, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Jane Snell in Bay Minette, Alabama.

Ruth Helen was born on Monday, June 30th, 1919 in Randolph County, Indiana, daughter of the late Bert and Bessie Swain Bragg. She graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1938.

Ruth Helen was a homemaker and seamstress who once worked at the former Hoosier Store. She worshiped nearly 60 years at the New Garden Friends Meeting and belonged to the Women's Temperance Union. She enjoyed being hospitable to others, reading, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, and knitting. She leaves a legacy of spirituality to her family from the Godly life she lived. Ruth Helen enjoyed studying her Bible, going to Church, and participating in Church functions as long as her health permitted. She leaves a legacy of spirituality to her family from the Godly life she lived and was a great influence to all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Ruth Helen was survived by one daughter, Kathryn "Jane" (and Norman) Snell; one son, John (and Jean) Myers; one brother, Jim Bragg; one sister, Alice Bowen; eleven grandchildren, Vickie (and Joe) Stone, Duane (and Rhonda) Myers, Brenda (and Tony) Bennett, Deby (and Mike) Blackstone, Teresa (and Tony) Brannon, Clint Snell, LeeAnne (and Rudy) Free, Ricky Jones, Randy Jones, Jenny (and Dan) Ritzema, and Tony (and Karin) Bailey; twenty-eight great grandchildren, Brian Stout, Adam (and Alicia) Stone, Jennifer (and Tim) Girdler, Steven (and Hannah) Stout, Ashley Stone, Jason (and Danielle) Collier, Mathew (and Holly) Collier, Andy Myers, Christopher (and Stephanie) Myers, Amanda Adkins, Thomas Sherman, Dakota Sherman, Taylor Bennett, Travis Bennett, Meghan (and Josh) Turner, Amber Still (and her fiancé, Keith Mitchell), Josh Brannon, Nick Blackstone, Michael Blackstone, Caleb Brannon, John Free, David Free, Marcus Free, Sam Free, Preston Ritzema, Paige Ritzema, Alex Bailey, and Elanor Bailey; five great-great grandchildren, Madisyn Coffman, Ethan Girdler, Adyia Collier, Cordelia Collier, and Triston Blackstone; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, William Leondas Myers, Sr., whom she married on June 8th, 1941 and who departed this life on March 13th, 1992; one son, William Leondas "Bill" Myers, Jr., who departed this life on January 3rd, 2010; one daughter, Carolyn "Beth" Jones, who departed this life on June 19th, 2011; her parents, Bert Bragg, who departed this life in 1954 and Bessie Bragg, who departed this life in 1961; one sister, Janice Thomas, who departed this life on July 20th, 2013; and one brother, Evan Bragg, who departed this life in 1973.

The Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette, Alabama was in charge of the local arrangements for Ruth Helen.

Visitations were held on Sunday, October 13th, 2013 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home in Fountain City, Indiana.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 13th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home with her son, John Myers officiating.

Musical selection: He Didn't Just Carry the Cross, He Carried Me!, by the Hoppers.

Her pallbearers were: Clint Snell, Duane Myers, Dan Ritzema, Ricky Jones, Randy Jones, Tony Brannon, and Rudy Free.

Interment followed in the New Garden Friends Cemetery in Fountain City, Indiana.
