AGED WOMAN PASSES AWAY

MRS. CORDELLA CRAIGHEAD HAD BEEN ILL FOR SEVEN WEEKS WITH LIVER TROUBLE

Mrs. Cordelia Craghead, 61 years old, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. F. Payne on South Nichols Street, with whom she had made her home for a number of years. Mrs. Craghead became ill about seven weeks ago with liver trouble and for the past five weeks had been confined to her home.

Her condition had been quite serious for more than a week and her death came not unexpected. About three years ago Mrs. Craghead was operated on for gall stones and while she recovered from the effects of this operation, she never fully regained her strength.

Mrs. Craghead, whose maiden name was Cordelia Jennings, was born in Virginia, April 4, 1856, and was the daughter of Reuben and Elizabeth Jennings. The family moved to Callaway county when Mrs. Craghead was quite young and settled southwest of Fulton.

Mrs. Craghead was married to James R. Craghead, February 6, 1876. After living for some time on a farm in the neighborhood in which Mrs. Craghead's parents settled, the family moved to Vernon County, where they lived for eleven years, later moving back to Fulton.

Mr. Craghead died November 5, 1895, and since that time Mrs Craghead has made her home with her daughters, the greater part of the time with Mrs. Payne. The other surviving daughters are Mrs. H. J. Oestreich and Miss Bertha Craghead. Mrs. Craghead was the last of her immediate family.

Mrs. Craghead was a home loving woman and much interested in church work. She joined the Mt.Carmel Methodist church at an early age and remained a member until her death. She was a loving mother and kind neighbor and she will be greatly missed for the circles in which she moved.

Short funeral services will be held at the Payne home at one o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. G. Castle, officiating, and the remains will be taken to the Mt. Carmel cemetery for burial, services to be conducted in the Mt. Carmel church at about 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Rev. W. L. Scarborough.
