Retired secretary

A Mass of Christian burial for Margaret L. Bauernschub, a retired secretary for a retreat house and former liquor and hardware store owner, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Ave., Catonsville.

Mrs. Bauernschub, who was 83 and lived in Catonsville, died Saturday of septicemia at St. Agnes Hospital.

In the early 1970s, she did secretarial work at the retreat house at St. Joseph's Passionist Monastery.

She retired from active participation in the businesses she and her husband owned for 25 years, the Caton Manor hardware and liquor stores, before going to work at the retreat house. She remained an owner until the businesses were sold in 1973.

The former Margaret Lorenz was a native of Baltimore and a graduate of Mount St. Agnes High School.

A former president of the state organization of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the St. Mark's Mother's Club.

Her husband, Frederick T. Bauernschub, died Dec. 1.

She is survived by two daughters, Lorene A. Hoehn and M. Martine Leahy, both of Catonsville; a son, Dennis M. Bauernschub of Parkville; and seven grandchildren.
