June moved with her parents to Reydon, Oklahoma. She graduated from Reydon High School and Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma. She began her teaching career at Crawford, Oklahoma and she was married to Glen Leon Kendall at Reydon, Oklahoma on November 22, 1942. She taught for 7 years at Crawford before moving to Cheyenne to teach in 1962. She received her Masters Degree from Southwestern State College and continued to teach for a total of 34 years until her retirement. June loved to read, needle point and travel.
The family requests memorial donatons be made to the Diabetes Association or your favorite charity.
She was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 brother, C.L. Hickey.
Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lily Kendall, Leedey, Oklahoma; 4 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law Betty Hanawalt, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Hester Hickey, Reydon, Oklahoma; Veda Raye and Ernest Lee Smith, Elk City, Oklahoma; and Ruthe Kendall, Snyder, Oklahoma; and Cecil Smith, Elk City, Okllahoma; 2 grandchildren, Michele and Kenny Jean, Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Joel and Alllison Kendall; 3 great grandchildren, Lane and Ethan Kendall, all of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Kendall Nicolle Jean, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Services were held June 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Aubrey Cowan and Gary Haire. Burial was held at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills Couny, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapell Funeral Service in Cheyenne.
