Daughter of Anderson and Lavina Kirkland Farquhar. The family story is that they were aboard a ship that landed in port at Matagorda, Matagorda County, Texas. The Colorado River was at flood stage at the time and the travelers were required to wait until the waters receded enough that travel could be resumed upriver. During this wait, two of the Farquhar daughters became ill with fever and died. Nancy E. was one of the daughters. It is not known where she is buried.
