Ruth Evelyn Kirschner, age 78, of rural Carlisle, died at 4:40pm Sunday, November 30, 1997, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born June 5, 1919 in Sullivan County to Alvin Wickline and Alta Hubble Wickline. She was a 1938 graduate of Carlisle High School and a homemaker. She was married February 2, 1945, to her husband, Karl Kirschner. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Harold Wickline; and one sister Lucille Andre. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Terri Kirschner, rural Carlisle, Jack Kirschner, rural Carlisle, and Kevin and Pam Kirschner, rural Carlisle; one daughter, Karel Kirschner, rural Carlisle; one sister, Gladys Kerkhof, Sullivan; six grandchildren, Krystal Kirschner, Chuck Kirschner, Jeremy Kirschner, Kelli Jo Kirschner, Kyle Kirschner and John Michael Kirschner; and other relatives.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday December 3, 1997 in the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Brothers Buford Smith and Jim Benefiel officiated. Burial was in Merom Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Kirschner, Jack Kirschner, Kevin Kirschner, John Riley, Jack Livingston, and Jim Richmond. Honorary pallbearers were Karel Kirschner and Chuck Kirschner.
Ruth Kirschner was the youngest daughter of Alta Hubble Wickline, who was the daughter of Rufus Ward Hubble, and was named for his twin sister Ruth Hubble who married Thomas Paskins. Ruth Paskins' sister-in-law and Toms sister, Sarah A. Paskins married Joseph Hubble.
