Carl Joseph Johnson was born February 17, 1898, the son of Christine and John L. Johnson of Lake Mary township. He grew to manhood on his parent's farm and was baptized and confirmed at the Calvary Lutheran church in Alexandria. On September 27, 1930 he was united in marriage to Annie Aslagson by the Rev. A. Mattson of Alexandria. He farmed in Holmes City township until 1943 when he and his wife moved to Minneapolis. This has been their residence for the past ten years. Mr. Johnson passed away Wednesday evening, February 4, 1953 in Minneapolis being at the time of his death 54 years, 11 months and 17 days. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Johnson and three sisters (Emma) Mrs Carl Lordalen of Lowry; (Alfa) Mrs. Olof Swedberg of Hoffman; (Hattie) Mrs. Richard Hedlund of Spruce Hill. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
