Opal S. Reeves of Blair, Nebraska, passed away at the Crowell Memorial Home on January 31, 1989.

Opal was born on December 23, 1894 to Ulysses and Lucretia Reeves in Sidney, Iowa. He attended school in Woodbine, Iowa.

He served his country during World War I serving in France and England from 1917 to 1919. He was a lifetime member of the Ft. Calhoun American Legion and Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On June 16, 1920 he was united in marriage to Stella Bunn. Opal farmed north of Blair for many years and later in the DeSoto area. He moved to Ft. Calhoun upon retiring and two years ago moved to Parkview Manor in Blair. Following a brief hospitalization in December, he moved to Crowell Home on January 3, 1989.

He is survived by his daughter, Eunice Nykiel of Omaha; his daughter and son-in-law, one sister Ruby Simpson of Blair; six grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; a son, Max, and by two brothers, Omer and Anson Reeves.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, at the Campbell Funeral Home. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Blair VFW Post No. 1251 in the Blair Cemetery.
