EAST PRAIRIE -- Johnnie Lou Dean, 57, died Feb. 12, 2008, at her home.

Born Feb. 12, 1951, at East Prairie, to the late John J. and Annie Arietta Hayden Grogan, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County. She was a registered nurse and a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

Survivors include: one son, Derek Ellis of Fayetteville, N.C.; one daughter, Ashley Chaney of East Prairie; one brother, Larry Grogan of Matthews; and five sisters, Linda Jones of Claremore, Okla., Carolyn Tripp, Georgia Thurman and Mary Grogan of East Prairie and Ellen Grogan of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Guylend "Skeets" Dean; two brothers, Jerry Grogan and Terry "Skeeter" Grogan; and two sisters, Helen Day and Dorothy Bolden.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Mike Worrell officiating.

Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
