Obituary for Frances M. Chaffee of Sterling, Michigan
Frances, age 98 years, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013. She was born to Thomas and Margaret (Liehgt) Ackerman on July 30, 1915 in Clare, Michigan. Frances married Ellsworth Chaffee in 1933 at Bay City, Michigan. She worked for the Standish-Sterling Schools as a cook, retiring in 1962. Frances loved cooking and making afghans for her loved ones.
Surviving are her daughter JoAnn (Frank) Dubiel; three sons, Gene (Ruth) Chaffee of Grand Rapids, Ronnie (Alfreda) Chaffee of Oxford and Larry (Mary Ann) Chaffee of Ludington; son-in-law James Swartz of Standish; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded by her daughter Pat Swartz and grandsons Rod Dubiel and Philip Chaffee.
Her funeral service will be Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the R. O. Savage Funeral Chapel in Standish. She will lie in state at the chapel from 10:00 AM until service time. Family will greet friends at the chapel on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery.
