News Paper report (photo posted) of a Thos. Sinclair (Thomas Sinclair) death. From the finding of this grave, I believed this to be Thomas Sinclair who showed to be on the Live Oak County 1870 Census but not on the 1880 Census. ... The news paper is the "Galveston Daily News" for April 5, 1877 reporting from a story in the "San Antonio Express." I believe the date on the stone may be for the making of the stone or at a much later date when the exact date had been forgotten. At the time of death the article notes he had four young children and a wife, who was left destitute. They could not have afforded a marker at that time. It would have had to be brought in by wagon to the location. There was no town of Three Rivers at the time or George West. The County Seat was at Oakville at the time.

Adding to the knowledge of the occupant of the grave ... Thomas Sinclair was shown at the age of 22 on the 1860 Live Oak County Census as a "Stockraiser" and living in the house hold of Henry (34 yrs) and Margaret Taylor (32 yrs). Oddly their children are listed in order of age with one exception. Daughter Mary, confirmed as their daughter by other records found, is listed last and after that of their lodger, Thomas Sinclair. The confirming record shows Thomas and Mary married July 8, 1870 in Live Oak County.
