Died Wednesday, July 21, 1993, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 71, a resident of Slaughter and a native of Morganza. He was a retired Ethyl Corp. machinist and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Visiting was held at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at Blackwater Methodist Church, Baker, 10 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Kirby Vining and the Rev. Mitch Harris. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by wife, Elaine Kelley Dawson, Slaughter; a stepdaughter, Jane Pinckley Guy, Zachary; three sons, Larry Dawson, Morganza, Donald Dawson, St. Marys, Ga., and Jake Dawson, New Orleans; three stepsons, Mark Pinckley, Baker, Al Kelley, Pride, and Davey Kelley, Central; three sisters, Lyle Ann Eichsteadt, Winnburn, Ore., Mary Dael Olinde, Jarreau, May Merrill Kaiser, Central; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Dawson Jr., Morganza, Blase Dawson and Quinton Dawson, both of Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charles Dawson Sr.; former wife, Ouida Pinckley Dawson. Pallbearers will be nephews. He was a member of V.F.W. and D.A.V.
