Funeral services for Mr. Robert Everett "Bob" Tarkington, age 87 of Lyles will be Monday September 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. David Peeler officiating. Place of rest will be in the Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday September 28th from 6 to 8 PM and on Sunday from 2 to 8 PM. Services are under the direction of the Taylor Funeral Home.
Mr. Tarkington died Friday September 27, 2013 at his home. Born in Hickman County, he was the son of the late Jim and Bessie Mae Worley Tarkington and was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Fay Griffin Tarkington. He had worked at AVCO for 36 years before retiring and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was a life member of the VFW.
Survivors include his son, Donny Tarkington and his wife Jessica of Dickson; grandson, Matthew Tarkington; step-grandchildren, Ashlee and Kendale Brumit; brothers, Thomas Harold Tarkington of Columbia, Richard W. Tarkington of Centerville, Charlie B. Tarkington of Nashville, Larry Tarkington of Columbia, Bill Tarkington of Primm Springs; sisters, Ruth Helen Shelton of Texas, Brenda Burchard of Centerville; several nieces and nephews.
