Jean Etcheverry (Tipia) Services: Tues., Sept. 20, 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2005, from 4-8 p.m., in the Hopson-Anspach Mortuary Chapel for Jean Tipia Etcheverry, 63, of Bakersfield, who passed away September 13, 2005. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at 11a.m. at Union Cemetery. Father Craig Harrison will officiate. Jean was born March 23, 1942 in Caro, France where he was raised and attended French schools. When he was 17 he moved to the United States, settling in Kern County. He worked as a gardener for 40 years here in Kern County, working for Kern Ridge Growers, as well as residential homes. On August 20, 1992 he married Evelyn Aguirre in Las Vegas. There were many things Jean enjoyed to do such as playing handball and Basque dancing. He was also fond of duck and dove hunting as well as fishing. Jean loved life and lived it to the fullest. Jean is survived by his wife of 13 years, Evelyn; son, Jean Paul Etcheverry of Bakersfield; daughters, Marie Resolme and Nicole Etcheverry of Bakersfield; step-son, Charles Martinez of Bakersfield; step-daughter, Ramona Hormann and husband, Keith of Oregon; brother, Martin Etcheverry of Bakersfield; nine other brothers and sisters in France; grandchildren, Chantel, Chalene, Tawny and Aramee; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Nico and Aalijah; step-grandchildren, Nichole, Tony, Carly, Charlie, Samantha, Jennifer and Christopher; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Catalin Etcheverry; and his grandparents, Julian and Marie Arrayet.
