Graveside services for Emmel Theodore Browning, 86, who died Tuesday, July 14, 1987, at the Muscatine Care Center, were held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Conesville Cemetery with Rev. Amo Frericks of the Shephard of the Cross Lutheran Church officiating.

Casket bearers were Darrell Conaway, Jr. Kim Conaway, Randy Browning, Angie Whitlow, William Berry, James Berry, Theodore Berry, and Toie Browning. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home of Muscatine was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Browing was born November 21, 1900, at Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Phillip and Hattie Emmett Browning. He was a member of the Nichols First Christian Church. He farmed in the Muscatine County area until his retirement.

Surviving are two sons, Larry and Theodore, both of Muscatine; two daughters, Nancy Conaway of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Farrell (Patricia) Berry of Grandview; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
