Services for Johnnie Virgil Edgar, 93, were Feb. 23 in Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill. He died Feb. 18 in the Madill hospital following two months of declining health.
Edgar was born April 1, 1906 in Marshall County and remained a county resident throughout his lifetime. He was the son of the late John and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Edgar.
For most of his life Edgar was a farmer and rancher. He married Dail Marie Lewis Nov. 11, 1933 in Marshall County.
He is survived by a son, John Wayne Edgar of Harrah; daughters, Mary Skye of San Antonio, Texas and Jean Stewart of Denison, Texas; six grandchildren; five great grandchldren, and his former wife, Dail Marie Lewis.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Alton, Garnie, Roy, Ted and Carl "Bud" Edgar, four sisters, Mae Sanders, Grace Archerd, Ivy Underhill and Bessie White and a daughter, Sarah Jane Lewis.
Brian Hobbs officiated services. Music was by Elaine Williams.
Interment was in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery. Arrangements were through Watts Funeral Home.
