Thomas Lewis Akin, 75, Cumberland City, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at Gateway Medical Center.

A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.

He was born February 8, 1938 in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Akin; wife, Carolyn Shelton Akin; brothers, Walter Lee Akin, James Clinton "Tee" Akins, J.D. Akin, Herman Akin and Dean Akin.
Mr. Akin was a Baptist, farmer, Auto Mechanic and Carpenter.

Survivors include his sons, Randy (BJ) Akin, Scott Akin, Harley Akin; daughters, Connie (Bobby) Treshock, Sheila (Steve) Rudolph; brothers, Norman (Mary) Akin, Edward (Kathy) Akin, Wade Akin; sisters, Lillian (Dennis) Burroughs, Lib Stockdale, Patricia (Frank) Dyce; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Major, Bethany Rudolph, Justin Thomas Akin, Kevin Derik Akin, Tyler Deering, Ian Deering, Kacey Freemon, Kimberly Freemon; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Major, Keliegh Freemon, Kyler Freemon, Kaylen Major, MJ Major, and Dillon Major.

Pallbearers will be Terry Akin, Donnie Akin, Joey Hambright, Tooter Smithey, Brian Smith, Opie Smith and Timothy Pierce.
