LAFAYETTE, AL -- Mr. Ray Durham Phillips, 89, of LaFayette, died Tuesday, 17 Sep 2013 at Robert Howell State Veteran Home in Pell City, AL.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. (CST) Friday, 20 Sep 2013 at Jeff Jones Funeral Home with Rev James Caulfield officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery with Military rites.

Mr. Phillips is survived by two sons, Dwain Rodney Phillips of McDonald, PA and Ray Maurice Phillips of Cabbot, AR; two sisters, Catherine Nolene Foster of Valley, AL and Clara Mae Pike of Lineville, AL; one brother, Frazier Lee (Pete) Phillips of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his daughter Cathy Michelle Phillips and wife Joan Blondell Brown Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was born in Chambers County, AL on 26 Sep 1923. After initially serving in the US Navy, he was retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service.

Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette, AL was in charge of arrangements.
