Samuel J Burge , the young man whose serious illness at the Mahan house, this city, we mentioned last week, died there last Friday night, and was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery Sunday afternoon, Rev C M Truex, of the Baptist Church, conducting the funeral services. The Deceased had been living in Columbia, and was sick there, but did not inform his relatives of the seriousness of his condition, but his brother, Robert, went to see him a short time before his Death and found him so low that he immediately started for home with him, but the patient was too weak when he reached Boonville to go further. He was 27 years old and a son of the venerable O F Burge of the county. During his sickness at the Mahan house, his relatives were with him, and kind friends were unremitting in their attention, but these and the skill of the physician could not arrest the approach of Death. His relatives are very grateful for the kindness of his friends, and are especially so to Mr and Mrs Green and their kind-hearted young daughter, Miss Jessie, for their unselfish endeavors to alleviate the condition of the sick man and for their expressions of sumpathy with their sorrowing friends. His aged father, his brothers, John B and Robert P, of the county, and W O Burge of Lathrop, Missouri and his sisters, Mrs. C C Eldredge II and Miss Dora survive to mourn his loss. They were with him during his last days and attended his funeral. He was an intelligent, worthy young man, and his Death will be regretted by all who knew him. Samuel was attending the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri when he became ill.
