Husband of Phebe Carder Harrod (sister to Elizabeth Carder Harrod) whose inscription is on the other side of the pillar monument. Parents of: Samuel Harrod who had a hotel in Belle Center, Ohio; Elizabeth Harrod wife of James Stewart; Sanford Harrod who later moved to Crete, Nebraska; John Harrod father of Ralph who married Clara; and David B. Harrod. With his brother Samuel, he was one of the first permanent settlers of McArthur Township, Logan County, Ohio, in 1820.
