Ron served stateside as a cook in the Army Air Force from 1942-1944. Afterwards, Ron managed fast food restaurants in California for many years before moving to Montana. He was a chef at the Hanging Tree and the Hacienda before finishing his working years at Superior Lumber Company. Ron bred, raised and showed Appaloosa horses. His pride and joy was his stallion Chief Kalispell, who became a World Champion Western Pleasure horse
