Edited version of the obituary in the Bradford County Telegraph dated Friday 13 Feb 1920 page 1 : Mary Bragg was born in Screven County, Georgia on 16 Dec 1847and died 2 Feb 1920 at the age of 72 years. She was the oldest child of Sebron and Elizabeth Bragg. She and her family moved to Jefferson County, Florida in 1853 and in 1865 they moved to Lake Butler, Bradford County, Florida and spent the rest of her life in that area. Mary professed her hope in Christ and joined the Primitive Baptist Church at New Hope in Alachua County, Florida in 1870 and was baptized by the late Elder Alek Hodges. She married Matthew a. Dukes on 10 Dec 1874 and remained married to him until her death. To this union five children were born, two boys and three girls, all who survive her except one girl dying in infancy. She was survived by her hurband, M.A. Dukes, and four children: Mrs. Sarah E. Douglass of Lake Butler, Samuel, Sebron M., and Miss Eliza Dukes, all of Dukes, Florida, as well as 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 5 sisters and a host of friends.
