Elma A. Schneble

Elma Kearley Schneble, 79, of 25 N. Clinton St., died Friday (Mar. 31, 1989) in Noyes Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

She was born May 22, 1909, in Dansville, a daughter of Simon N. and Sena Blum Albert. In June of 1939 she was married to Jack E. Kearley who was killed in 1945 during World War Two. In February of 1974, she was married to Edwin Schneble who died Feb. 12, 1987. She attended St. Mary's School in Dansville and graduated from Dansville Central School. Mrs. Schneble graduated from Geneseo Normal in 1931 and from Albany State college in 1934. She was an elementary school teacher in Shortsville and Roslyand Heights on Long Island. Later, she was a third grade teacher and reading consultant for the Dansville school system from which she retired after 25 years on the faculty.

Mrs. Schneble was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Geneseo Alumni Association and a member and past president of the Dansville Women's Civic Club. She also was a member of the Noyes Hospital Auxiliary and worked in the Meals on Wheels Program here. She was affiliated with the Dansville Retired Teachers Association and was a delegate to the State Teachers Convention as a representative of the Dansville Teachers Association.

Surviving are a son, John A. Kearley of Chula Vista, Calif.; two grandsons; two brothers, Dr. Daniel Albert of McLean, Va., and Dr. James Albert of Geneva; nieces and nephews.

A prayer service was conducted Tuesday morning in the Chamberlin Funeral Home of Dansville followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
