Deceased Name: Marian E. Kreger
Kreger, Marian Elizabeth 90, a long time resident of Naperville, IL passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 surrounded by family at Sunrise Assisted Living, Naperville, IL. Preceded in death by husband, James "Jim" Kreger (April 10, 2008). Eldest of six, Marian was born to the late Anna and George Meyer, on April 29, 1922 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Marian graduated from Reedsville Wisconsin High School. After graduation, Marian did her part for the war effort by coming to Chicago and working at the Buick plant in Melrose Park where she inspected Pratt and Whitney engines for the B29 bombers. After the war, Marian worked at the Merchandise Mart. Her love of dance brought Marian to the Aragon Ballroom where she met Jim. They were married on August 6, 1947. Marian worked at Koehler's in Naperville before starting her family with Jim. After raising her family, Marian worked at Marshall Fields in the bridal registry and in the deli-bakery department at Kreger's Central Foods. Marian and Jim traveled extensively, including trips with the Windjammers International Band, the American Wind Band, and to their cabin in Minnesota. Survived by children: daughters, Pat (Ken) Brummel of Hayward, WI, Wanda (Tom) Dardis of New Albany, OH, Ann (Jim) Wittneben of Naperville, Jean Kreger (Bob Mickolayck) of Warrenville, Sharon (Ron) Svatos of Ely, MN, Susan Kreger (John Featherstone) of Naperville and son, William "Bill" Kreger of Naperville; thirteen grandchildren, Andy (Maria) Brummel, of Downers Grove, James (Amanda) Brummel, of Golden Valley, MN, Elizabeth (Casey) Wiedenman, of Crystal, MN, Kate Dardis, of Chicago, Ryan Dardis (fiancé Jodi) of New Albany OH, Chris Dardis of New Albany, OH, Laura Wittneben of Downers Grove, Elle Wittneben of Naperville, Tom Wittneben of Naperville, Willy Vosburgh of Ely, MN, Matt Dingeldein of Naperville, Bryan Kreger of Naperville and Daniel (Danny) Kreger of Naperville; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Wesley, Adam and Emmett Brummel of Downers Grove, Owen, Lilly and Claire Brummel of Golden Valley, MN, Lucy Wiedenman, of Crystal, MN. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Meyer; brothers, Claude Meyer and Jerome Meyer and sisters, Rita Pritzl, Olive Valleskey, and Mildred Eichhorst. Marian is survived by a brother-in-law, Arnold Kreger of Naperville and sisters-in-law, LaVerne Meyer of Kiel, WI, and Verdayne Meyer of Sheboygan Falls, WI and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 9:00 to 11:00AM at St. Irene's in Warrenville, 28W441 Warrenville Rd., Warrenville, IL. Funeral mass at 11:00AM.
