Doretta Dittbrenner, the daughter of John and Renate (Harms) Dittbrenner, was born on September 9, 1917, in rural Byron, Nebraska. She was one of eight children born to her parents. She passed from this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Thayer County Health Services at the age of 96 years and 2 days.

Doretta was baptized in St. Paul Lutheran Church near Byron, Nebraska on September 23, 1917 and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church, Hebron, on March 29, 1931.

She grew up in Thayer County on the family farm and attended the District #48 rural school. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the W.E.L.C.A. Doretta enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.

Those that preceded her in death were her parents; sisters: Rosa Pohlmann, Alma Daniel, Augusta Brouwer, Erna Sweetser and Dora Dittbrenner; and a brother, August Dittbrenner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Johannes Dittbrenner and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
