He was born in Chanute, Tennessee on February 18, 1929, the son of Will Ed and Mary Zelma Beaty and served his country in The United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Thomas later retired as a Staff Sergeant Military Policeman from the Air Force. In 1967 he went to work for Muncie Chevrolet Division of General Motors and retired after several years of service.
He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God and the Avondale Sympathy Club. The greatest joys in his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Ruby (Dossett) Beaty, whom he married on October 10, 1953; his children, Galen Beaty (wife, Marcia) and Dina Goad (husband, Russell); grandchildren, Christi Overman (husband, Evan), Jon Beaty (wife, Heather), Jennifer Duncan (husband, Danny) and Sarah Goad; his great-grandchildren, Ian and Brenna Overman and Madilyne Duncan; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Beaty; his brothers, Homer, Ray, Gene, Reed and David; his sisters, Ruby, Willie, Ova, Maxine, Clare and Annie; and his parents.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 West Isanogel Road with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by the United States Air Force and the Veterans of Delaware County.
