C.S.A.∼William P. Cheek was born in 1824 in Franklin Co., Ga to Willis and Susannah Williams Cheek. He married Elizabeth "Eliza" Bell on 10 Jan 1850 in Franklin Co., GA. They had the following children: Eppy, Amanda, Howard, Alvan, Allen, George and John.
William P. Cheek enlisted in the 52 GA infantry Company K as a private on 4 March 1862. He was wounded and placed in a Confederate Hospital and died there on 10 Sep 1864. He was either placed in a hospital cemetery and later removed to Rose Hill Cemetery Soldiers Square or was buried at Rose Hill at the time of his death.
