CROWLEY – Funeral services for Estelle Ayres Semons, 89, of Maxie will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 3 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Reverend Jimmy Powers will officiate. Interment will follow in Maxie Cemetery, Maxie.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 9 a.m. until service in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley.

Mrs. Semons passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 12:45 a.m. in her Maxie residence.

A native of North Louisiana, Mrs. Semons had been a resident of Acadia Parish for many years. She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Iota.

Mrs. Semons worked for many years as a sales clerk at West Brothers Department Store in Crowley. She loved listening to gospel music, sewing, and doing crossword puzzles. Mrs. Semons was a big fan of Dancing With the Stars, as well as other talent-based television programs. Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family, especially her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Estelle "Pat" Morgan of Kaplan, Thelma Foreman of Maxie, and Nancy Frederick and husband, Garland of Cecilia; sons, Jimmy Edward Semons and wife, Josephine of Denham Springs, William Semons and wife, Karen of Kingswood, TX, and Curtis Ray Clayton and wife, Cheryl of Iota; and sister, Nell Womack of Chatham. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchilden, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Semons in death were her husband, Edward Lee Semons; parents, Buford and Dora Ann Ouzts Ayres; daughter, Carol Wilson; sisters, Laura Green, Nita Cooley, and Ruth Ramsey; brother, Charles Ayres; and great-grandchildren, Kerri Semons, Michael Lee Morgan, Jeffery Matthew Dykes, and Brendon Norwood.

Serving as pallbearers are Larry Gene Morgan, Jr., Troy Edward Semons, Todd Jeffery Semons, Jason Edward Vidrine, Mitchell James Semons, William Alfred Semons, II, and William R. Kelly, III.
