Claude Harold Sweebe, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 1985, in Benson, Arizona, following a short illness.

He was born May 16, 1916, in North Baltimore, Ohio. He came to Midland as a children with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William (Bertha) Sweebe.

Mr. Sweebe pitched for the Stearns softball team in the 1940s and 1950s. He was an employee of Dow Chemical Co,. retiring as a superintendent of Saran Wrap in 1968 after 34 years of services. He was an avid stream fisherman and hunter.

He leaves sons, Herbert O. Sweebe of Midland and Claude Sweebe Jr. of Cooper Hill, Va.; daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Sandra) Arthur of Midland; brother, William Sweebe of Midland; a sister, Mrs Leroy (Helen) Norris of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Miner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Louis I. Koke, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial are suggested to the Midland County Cancer Society or to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Committee.
