Frederick F. Dalrymple, 84, of East Street died Wednesday at a Portland hospital.
He was born in Waltham, Mass., a son of Frederick and Nellie Jenkins Dalrymple. He moved to Freeport in 1919 and attended Freeport schools, graduating from Freeport High School in 1932. During World War II he worked at South Portland Shipyard. He later worked for E.E. Taylor Shoe Co., retiring as superintendent after nearly 30 years. He also worked for American Drilling Co. from 1972 to 1976. He was employed at J.J. Nissen Baking Co. from 1977 until his retirement in 1997 due to declining health. Mr. Dalrymple had been a member of Freeport Masonic Lodge No. 23 since 1945 and was master of the lodge in 1955. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Kora Temple Shrine. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
His former wife, Pauline Downing, died in 1978 and a daughter, Bonnie Jean, died in 1974.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Smith Dalrymple of Freeport; a stepdaughter, Laureen Lunt Collard of Freeport; a stepson, Lawrence Lunt of Freeport; and three grandchildren.
At his request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Freeport Masonic Lodge, Mallett Drive. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, Yarmouth.
