Ida Tharaldson-Olson was born 11 Jul 1891 in Laketown Twp., Barnes Co., ND, NW of Dazey on her parents, Daniel & Ingnora Bertine (Ovesdatter Lie) Tharaldson, homestead. She was the youngest of three children, Emil being the eldest, and Lula the second child. Their parents died in 1903 and 1902, respectively, and older brother Emil reared the two girls. Ida went to school in Laketown twp., and Dazey, and then attended Valley City Normal School.
Ida married Haakon Olson, on 23 Dec 1914 in Dazey, ND. Haakon, who operated a Plumbing business with his partner & brother, Henry Olson in Carrington, ND, was a good friend of Mike Martinson, back from his days in Wisconsin, before moving to ND, both having immigrated from Norway in their teens. Mike married Idas sister Lula Tharaldson.
Ida died 13 May 1977 in Salem, Marion Co., OR, where she had been a resident for 20 years, 1957-1977.
Surviving her are daughter: LaVerne Ruth (James) Miller of Salem, OR; grandchildren: Marcia Jane (Jack) Rohrbough of Albany, OR, Arlene Louise (L. John) Murdoch, of Salem, and Steven James Miller of Salem, OR; great-grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn, and Jeffry Alan Rohrbough of Albany, OR, Molly Ann Murdock of Calif.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Daniel and Ingnora; her husband, Haakon Olson; her brother Emil Denver Tharaldson; her sister, Lula Tharaldson-Martinson, and brother in law, Mike Martinson; infant great-grandson, Michael David Rohrbough.
