Haakon Olson was born 27 Jul 1887 in Kragebon,Tvidt,Vest-Agder, Kristiansand, Norway to Otto & Henriette Sofie (Syversdatter-Larsen) Olson. He immigrated to the USA in 1905 at the age of 19. He was Naturalized in 1910. He first came to Wisconsin before moving to ND. He had been in the USA 38 years at the time of his death. Haaken was a plumber in Carrington, ND, and ran the business with his brother Henry Olson.
On 23 Dec 1914, Haakon married Ida Tharaldson of Dazey, ND, the daughter of Daniel and Ingnora Tharaldson. They had one daughter, LaVerne.
Haakon died when he was only 57 yrs. old, of a heart attack on 6 Nov 1944. He was survived by his wife Ida of Carrington, ND, his daughter LaVerne Ruth (James) Miller, granddaughter, Marcia Jane Miller.
Haakon had siblings: Sigrid Olson, Ole (Kristine) Olson, Syvert (Karoline) Olson, Olevine Olson, Aagot Olson, all of Norway, and brother Henry (Christine) Olson, of Carrington, ND.
