Alford-Winthrope Alford, 17, of 2506 Edison Ave, died October 6, 1943 in an explosion of a gasoline barge tied to the dock at Gibbs Gasoline Engine Co. South Jacksonville, Fl. Alford is survived by his mother Mrs Nettie Alford of this city; his father E.C. Alford of Tampa; and brother, William R Alford in the United States Navy. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon (Oct 11th) at South Prong Cemetery in Baker County. The Rev. D.C. Mallory will officiate.
