Harriet "Irene" Alexander, 94, Indianapolis, passed away September 4, 2013 at her residence. Harriet was born June 6, 1919 in Bellmore, IN to Fred Bradburn and Lila Combs Bradburn.

Harriet worked for 25 years at Kroger's various locations. She was a member of Marwood Christian Church in Indianapolis and belonged to the United Food Workers Union.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Burton and husband, James L. Alexander; 4 brothers, 3 sisters; and daughter, Sue Burton Hammer. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Karen Hammer Melman, Indianapolis, IN, Robin Hammer, Albequerque, NM, and Stephen Hammer, San Antonio, TX; 3 great-grandchildren, Madison Melman, Alison Mertz and Nathaneal Mertz; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 2 PM, Sat., Sept. 7 at Barnes & Rice Funeral Home, Rockville, IN, with visitation there from 1:30 PM until service time. Burial: Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville.
