Nick was part Cherokee Indian. He served in the Army during WWI receiving mustard gas poisoning that effected his health the rest of his life.

Manunde married Ethel Alfraetta Doty.

They had 6 children, Eleanor May, Gene Leslie, Rex James, William Roland, Sarah Margaret and Clifford Ray.

Ethel and Nick moved frequently in California, as Nick was always looking for a better climate for his health. They lived in Lake Co., in Blythe, and other warm areas and part time in Sebastopol. Nick bought and sold fruits and vegetables for a living. Their last years were spent in the house Nick built in Rocklin, just north of Sacramento. Nick died Jan 23, 1960 and Ethel on March 10, 1967.

Given name of MANUNDE (Native American name) by nurse at his time of birth. WILLIAM apparently died around 1900 and MANUNDE headed west to Cutback, MT and finally to Sebastapol (Sonoma Co.) CA.
