Robert Daniel Boyce, age 71, was reclaimed by heaven on September 1, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Christine Layer Boyce, eight children and twenty-five grandchildren. Bob was born in Chicago to the late E. Daniel and Echo Beery Boyce and raised in Monterey, California. He spent 2 1/2 years in Peru as a Mormon missionary. Bob received a BA and an MA in Spanish from Brigham Young University and a Doctorate in Education from Oklahoma State University.
Bob married Chris Layer, the love of his life, on December 17, 1966. He was a devoted husband and father who attended every ball game, concert, recital, play, track meet and contest that he possibly could. As a gifted teacher, Bob took every opportunity to teach his children the importance of developing good values, a strong work ethic and a deep faith in a loving Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. He also took every opportunity to indoctrinate them on the supremacy of Oklahoma State football.
During Bob's career as an educator and administrator with the Church Education System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he and Chris lived in: Ogden, Utah; Stillwater, Oklahoma; Bentonville, Arkansas; College Station, Texas; and Flower Mound, Texas. Bob touched hundreds of lives through his teaching.
Bob's devotion to God and family, his love for life, his gift to touch lives through teaching and untiring service, and his quick wit and deep wisdom will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
