James McLean Monroe , born in Barony,Lanarcshire, Scotland 1852 & died in White Pine County, Nevada 1911. Son of Janet Symington & Hugh Munro.James McLean was youngest brother of John,Marian,Elizabeth,Alexander,William, Jessie, Thomas & Christine Monroe and 3 babies who died in infancy in Scotland: Hugh,Janet & Hugh. Mother & 9 remaining children immigrated to USA about 1858, settling in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From May thru Oct 1893, James was employed as 2nd Engineer in charge of the boilers supplying power to the Columbia Exposition (Chicago World's Fair). Worked as a machinist in mining towns in Utah & Nevada. Marrried Margaret McMaster 21 Mar 1883 in Chicago IL, father of Wm.Hugh, Jeanette Christine "Jess", James McLean Jr, Alfred John, Marion E."Mae", Frank Alexander & Ruth Esther.
